Adrianna had an easy day. Her classes were short on mondays which meant that she had free time. Usually she went to the courtyard and hung out with friends, occasionally she would stay in her dorm and read a new novel, but today was different. Today she had decided to walk to the gym and watch the dhampirs training.
She had never watched them train, and was embarassed to admit that the one time she had seen them fighting strigoi she had frozen up and barely remembered anything other than blurs or movement and screams. She had been at St. Vladamir's barely a month into her freshman year and a couple of strigoi attacked. It had been a rare and unprepared thing..nobody had even thought they would have been so stupid to attack the Academy but they had..and they almost succeeded.
Adrianna tried to forget that day, it had not been a happy one. She lost two friends and it was unclear whether they had been turned or not. It didnt matter...turned or not they were dead either way. Adrianna shuddered when she thought about that day and quickly pushed it out of her mind. Today she needed to focus.
Adri walked to the gym and sat down on one of the bleachers. There were a few dhampirs practicing in the middle of the gym and she tried to follow their movements. They were so fast, even the younger ones were quick. She watched the way they expertly dodged and landed punches. She didn't like the violence but sometimes it was necessary.
She sat back against the bleachers and continued to watch. Wondering if there would ever be a day where she would be able to do half of the things they did.

Ara normaly didn't train in the afternoon. Well in a class anyway. But today she had asked and gotten persmission to go and help and train in her class. They weren't going to let her but she argued that they wern't even doing anything and they let her go. She hurried over to the gym and changed into shorts and a tank top. This of cource revieled the five scabs on her ankle from her own Strigoi attack about five days ago. She had gotten over the whispers in the hallways saying her name and telling all sorts of things that weren't true. Such as her taking out three Strigoi all on ehr own. As if. But let them belive it. She smiled at her sparing partner and the two started sparing and both were pretty evenly matched.
As she continued she darted around dodging hits but taking them as well and dishing out just as much to the older girl. Ara was only a freshman but the girl she was sparing with was a junior at least. That didn't stop her though. She wouldn't let it. In the end she won both girls always moving qiuckly bit Ara pind the gril down and kelpt her down until she gave. Ara sat up and then stood smiling and then held her and out for the girl to take. She concragualted her and then she took a drink of water and plopped down in the bleachers all sweaty but she felt good. Somthing about training did that. The brunett wasn't sure what but she loved to train.

Adri watched as a young dhampir made her way to the gym and watched as she fought with the others. Adrianna was in shock at how fast they were, all of their moves looked perfectly choreographed as if they practiced in their sleep. what made the even truly terrifying was the fact that strigoi were even faster. How could she fight something that could have her killed before she even realized it was near? Could her magic be strong enough to ward off something like that? Adri watched as the girl smiled and walked to the bleachers. How in the world was this girl smiling? It amazed her that the dhampirs were taking kicks to the face and not even upset about it.
Adrianna whined for a week if she stubbed her toe, much less if she had gotten hit or thrown around the way the dhampirs were. How could they even stand up after hit after hit? She glanced over at the girl and smiled.
" How in the world do you guys do it? Take hit after hit and still smile?"
She was certain that if it would have been her in the area she would have not only gotten her tail end beaten, but she also would have been out of commission aching in her room for a month. There was just no way. She had never asked her guardian about it. Mostly he stayed quiet unless her father or mother asked him a question. He had been very serious about his job, laying his own life down for her mother.

'How in the world do you guys do it? Take hit after hit and still smile?'
Ara looked over and saw a blond Mori girl and she climbed up closer to her. "Oh it really isn't that hard. I guess... It's just that we train so hard it doesn't bother us too much any more? But trust me. You don't come out of a fight, and I mean a real fight, not training like this but a real live fight for your life, you don't come out smiling happy as can be like that. Trust me I know." She nodded at her left ankle with the five scabs on it. She didn't com out smiling thats for sure. She looked at the girl and spoke again. "Training is fun at times but even then we don't always come out smiling. We can bang eachother up pretty good at times. Like once girl gave another a black eye once. Not the only time it happened but still." She shruged like it was no big deal but to her it wasn't.

Adrianna found it hard to believe that it didn't bother them the longer they did it. It was strange to think that someone could actually get use to getting hit and kicked. It seemed like the more you got hit the more it would take its toll on you. However, she had seen a few older guardians and they still had looked healthy and ready kick some strigoi butt if it needed to be done.
Adri nodded when the girl mentioned that they didnt smile when it was real. She hadn't been there when the death of her mother happened, but when she and her father had arrived the guardians had seemed very somber. Still it was hard to see someone get kicked and then smile about it.
" I guess that's true....have you fought then? If you don't mind my asking.... "
She wondered if the girl had ever seen a moroi fight. Adrianna heard rumors of it, but she had never seen it happen. It was still a taboo subject. On one hand magic was alive and should be used for good, but on the other....were they really to let their guardians die and do nothing?

'I guess that's true....have you fought then? If you don't mind my asking....'
Ara hesitated at that. She had attempted to fight that Strigoi but he stooped her from staking him with a stick. And then she managed to kick him... That resulted in and injured leg but it saved her. She nodded slowly at the Mori girl and smiled grimly. "Yea... Kind of. A little bit. I didn't do much really." She smiled and brushed away a few strands of hair that stuck to her face.
"What brought you here, that is if you don't mind the question. It's just not often that you find a Mori in here to watch us." She looked at her with her her grey eyes waiting a responce from the girl next to her.

Adrianna had wondered just how much fighting the girl had done. She seemed to be humble about the fighting but one could never tell. Most guardians who had actually seen fights were quiet, she had come to understand that the ones who had not seen death face to face were the ones who bragged.
Adrianna was caught off guard when the girl had turned the questions on her. She hesitated a moment, not knowing if she should lie or tell the truth. Her father's voice was clear in her head. She had no place even being in this room, much less observing their moves to try and copy them. She was a royal and this just was not done. Her voice however was different. The girl had seemed friendly and if she thought Adrianna was crazy for thinking she had a chance fighting then so be it. It was her magic..she should be able to use it as she saw fit.
" To be completely honest with you.....I was curious about the fighting. "
She stopped a moment to try and gather her thoughts. The way the guardians moved and struck. there was no way that she could be able to match that ferocity. There was no way she could help them.
" But after seeing everything here...I think I was just being foolish."

'To be completely honest with you.....I was curious about the fighting. But after seeing everything here...I think I was just being foolish.'
Ara's eyes grew slightly wide and a smile formed on her lips. Did this Mori want to fight? That's what it sounded like. The smile wasn't mocking or anything at all like that. It was amazment and admeration. If that was what the girl thought then she liked her. she looked around and then looked at the girl. First off, 'm Araceli Mariela Ricci. But you can call me Ara if you like. Second..."
She trailed off and leaned in and whispered. "Did you mean that you wanted to fight by those words? Because that is so amazing if you do. And please don't say that you don't now because of what you have seen. Just because we are faster and stuff doesn't mean a thing. You could help in your own ways I'm sure" Ara was excited to have possibly found a Mori that wanted to fight. The Damphir thought the Mori should helpfight too it was stupid that they couldn't.

Adrianna watched as the girl's face lit up with excitement. The girl...Ara...began to speak about Adri helping and learning, and Adrianna couldn't help but start to get excited herself. Was Ara really offering to help her fight? She hadn't spoken to any other Dhampirs about the issue, in fact she wanted to keep it as quiet as possible, and the first time she told anyone she expected criticism, but here was this girl who had accepted the idea 100% without judgement. Adrianna smiled
" Nice to meet you Ara. I'm Adrianna Dashkov. "
She hoped the fact that she was royal would not deter the girl any. She had watched her in the gym. Ara was fast, and knew how and when to strike. Adrianna needed someone like her.
" Yes actually....my mother was taken and I...Im graduating soon and I dont want to just sit in a council room defenseless. I want to help. I have great control over my magic, but I've never..well...you know, even thought about using it to harm someone but, I don't want to be useless. "

Ara grinned when she learned the Mori girl's name. Dashkov huh? A royal wanting to get her hands dirty. That was so awsome. The brunette frowned at her next words though. 'Yes actually....my mother was taken and I...Im graduating soon and I dont want to just sit in a council room defenseless. I want to help. I have great control over my magic, but I've never..well...you know, even thought about using it to harm someone but, I don't want to be useless. '
"Oh... My parents and older sister died two years ago. It was a house fire. The fire fighters said that it was an acident how it started and I'm sure it was but it was still depressing. I'm only here because my sister shoved me out of the way when a beam fell... So it's just me and my older brother now." She looked at the bleachers for a moment then looked back up. "Anyway... I can help you fight if you want. I'm not the best out there. I train so hard both because I can't bare to loose the last of my family and I want to beable to protect him even thought he's the one protecting me. That and I almost got myself killed. I'm only a freshman... so I don't know as och as others but I'm sure i could get my brother to help to! But your magic I can't help much with... what is your magic by the way?" She smiled again and looked at Adrianna.
