Dante sat hidden beneath one of the large trees on the backside of the academies church. This was one of his many strange hiding places. It might seem weird to others that he came here from time to time rather than actually going in the church itself, but hardly anyone knew he hid here, his sister Ara included, so they couldn't really say anything about his unusual choice of resting place.
He leaned forward, moved his bag out of the way, and laid his body against the earths surface, pulling the hood of his dark navy blue hoodie over his brown hair as he did so. He then lazily tucked his long arms beneath his head, where they rested transformed into a hard but comfy pillow.
The young novice stared up at the sky his grey eyes drinking in the beautiful dark shades that moved across it in the form of clouds. It was a nice day, the stars were out and it was cloudy. The air was cold just the way he liked it and it almost seemed as if it would rain. He hoped it would. Dante loved the rain. He stretched his body out, closed his eyes and silently prayed for water to fall from the sky.

Natasha sighed as she made another round. She was patrolling the grounds. She made sure to be more aware of the students walking around than possible Strigoi. Despite recent rumors of a possible attack, Natasha was pretty sure that it wasn't going to happen for at least a while. She was pretty sure that there was no Mana at this school. She seriously hoped that she hadn't just jinxed things.
As she walked back behind the church, Natasha glanced at a boy who was laying down on the ground. he was obviously a dhampir and had fairly good looks. He was probably around the age of seventeen or eighteen. She tilted her head slightly as she looked at him. Unfortunately for him, she was bored.
"Hey!" she called, "I hope you don't let your guard down like that all the time."
She grinned, so he could see that she was joking.

"Hey!" I hope you don't let your guard down like that all the time." The dhampir who had been pulled into a calm state of stillness kept his body relaxed when he heard the footsteps of the female voice who just spoke to him come closer to where he lay. He was so wrapped up in his head that he didn't first her here approach. Her voice had startled him making his heart beat like thunder, but he had remained still and listened while she spoke. He knew by the tone in her voice that she was joking. He thought she seemed to be of no threat so he didn't bother to raise his guard.
Dante smiled to himself. His eyes were still closed. He didn't know who the girl was, it didn't really matter anyway. He was here for himself to be by himself. He could ignore her, but that would be a waste because she had the confidence to disturb him. His interest piques slightly. Not a lot of people would do that, unless they knew he liked them. Or maybe she just hadn't recognized him. But still, who talks to people they don't recognize like that? He decided to see if she was worth talking. "It's not down. You just aren't aware of it. I'm sending out the illusion that it's down." He said, eyelids hiding his deep grey eyes from the face of the girl and everything else you can see through the windows of the soul.

Natasha smirked as she heard the boy's answer.
"Really?" she questioned, walking up closer. "So tell me, would you have been able to hear the footsteps of a Strigoi? I'll answer that for you. No. You wouldn't have been able to hear them."
She put her hands on her hips and looked down at him. She raised an eyebrow, waiting for him to open his eyes. He most likely had no idea that he was talking to the head of school guardians. But, then again, no one ever seemed to care. It greatly annoyed Natasha how most of the students treated her like she had no authority, just because she was young. But she would prove to them that she deserved their respect. She would prove it to everyone. Of course, it didn't help that she had arrived only a few days ago.

Dante laughed. He definitely did not know this girl. She was sassy, he liked that. He was completely relaxed even though this random girl was taking a shot at him for not being alert. He never really let people know what he was really thinking or feeling. "I have complete faith in the wards." He said referring to the magic that protected the academy and everyone in it. "And I'm pretty sure Strigoi don't wear perfume." He laughed again still resting where he lay beneath the trees. "And besides, there are lovely people like you around who.." He opened his eyes about to finish his sentence but he couldn't. Holy shit. A very hot brunette Dhampir stood above him with her hands on her hips. He looked into her icy blue eyes and tried not to drown. She was perfect looking. Seriously. She looked like a leading actress out of a teen movie. Dante reminded himself to blink. "Who go around telling people they're slacking. I think if I were a Stigoi I'd go for you first since your the furthest from the wall."
Dante wasn't sure if his words about the hot girl being a main target for Strigoi would offend her, he didn't really care much either. He was still testing her. He was always testing someone, though most of the time it was himself. He always felt like he had to prove himself to be better and push himself further than his limits. That was just how he was.

"I have complete faith in the wards."
"Wards fail sometimes" Natasha replied mysteriously to the boy's statement. She didn't bother to explain her statement. She didn't feel like taking a trip down memory lane at the moment. She ignored his comment about her perfume.
"And besides, there are lovely people like you around who.."
Natasha couldn't help but smirk slightly as he was unable to finish his sentence as he looked at her. Although, she wasn't used to getting that sort of reaction. Don't get her wrong, though, she had definitely gotten attention from the male species throughout the years. But Rose was the one who got the biggest reactions. And Natasha was perfectly fine with that.
"Who go around telling people they're slacking. I think if I were a Stigoi I'd go for you first since your the furthest from the wall."
She shrugged, not offended by this in the slightest.
"I'm not so sure about that," She stated. Her lips twitched as she held back a slightly smug grin. "Strigoi prefer easy targets. They'd much rather take on a novice such as yourself than deal with a fully trained guardian like me."
She raised an eyebrow at him, wondering what his comeback to that would be.

"I'm not so sure about that," Dante grinned slightly as he looked up at the brunette. She was a firecracker. "Strigoi prefer easy targets." His classic trademark grin grew bigger as he raised his eyebrows. She amused him. That was rare."They'd much rather take on a novice such as yourself than deal with a fully trained guardian like me." What? Dante had been thinking she was a new student or a visitor or something. He had no idea she was a guardian already. She was so young. But then again it wasn't really surprising considering the fact that not so long ago a lot of Moroi in their world were pushing to have their kind graduate at the age of sixteen.
He smiled at her. He now got why she was talking to him how she did. Well he kind of got it. But he wasn't sure why she hadn't told him to move from where he was and go and do something useful with his time, like a lot of the older guardians usually did to novices who where in a places they shouldn't be. "Well then it's lucky for me you are around." He said in a serious tone. Dante never underestimated people. Appearances are deceiving. That was something he knew from experience. Just because this girl was hot and much smaller than him didn't mean that she couldn't kick his ass. She could probably give anyone a run for their money.
"If I were a Strigoi I definitely wouldn't want to see you in a bad mood." Dante looked away from her as he continued to speak in a tone that let her know he wasn't just joking and even though he knew she could take what he was saying in a completely horrible way he continued talking. He always had this bold sense of confidence. But it wasn't always a good thing. "Not that you could actually look bad though." He looked directly into her blue eyes again. Still testing. Simply wanting to see her reaction. "Cause that .." he smiled up at her, "would be impossible." Dante did actually mean what he said. He seriously did not believe that it was possible for this girl to ever look bad.

"Well then it's lucky for me you are around."
Natasha smiled. Maybe he was finally listening to her. It would be a first for someone to actually listen to her.
She couldn't help but blush slightly when he suddenly complimented her. She tried to keep her face professional. God, she had never been good with compliments and flirting. Not like that mattered. She wasn't exactly allowed to flirt with students. Not like she planned to. Although it most certainly did not help that this boy was quite good looking.
Her mind flashed to Jonathan, who was still at Court. She missed him like crazy. She wouldn't admit it to anyone, but she also missed his annoying flirtation. Well, she only pretended that it was annoying most of the time.
She shook her head slightly when she realized that her thoughts had gone completely off topic. She cleared her throat and tried to put out an air of professionalism.
"So, um, what exactly were you doing out here?" she questioned nonchalantly as she glanced around.

Dante couldn't hide the tiny closed mouth smile that appeared on his face when he noticed the girl standing over him blush. She was cute and seeing her do that made her look even cuter. He laughed as she shook her head a little bit and watched her deep brown hair fell nicely over her shoulders. He thought she was a little nervous. It was funny and very cute to him that he had embarrassed her even though he hadn't meant to.
"So, um, what exactly were you doing out here?" The girl questioned his motives. It wasn't strange of her to ask.. he was the one lying on the ground behind a church. "Praying." Dante replied naturally. "Isn't it obvious?" He said jokingly while nodding his head toward the church. Dante knew she must of either been on patrol or just exploring because that's what he would do if he was a newly hired academy guardian. He guessed she was on patrol though because she seemed like she was smart enough to not be out in weather that looked like it was about to turn unless she had to be. "I see that you're doing a fine job of patrolling." And he thought she was really. "Nobody really ever comes back here." He said.

Natasha just nodded at the fact that he was apparently praying. He sounded honest enough and besides, he didn't look like someone who would get in a lot of trouble.
"Thanks" she said when he complimented her patrolling.
"Nobody really ever comes back here."
She shrugged. "Not many people care to go looking for things they can't see."
She wasn't sure where that comment came from, but she decided to roll with it.
jeez, my posts have been so lacking today ><

"Not many people care to go looking for things they can't see." Dante observed her make the statement casually. His curiosity about her grew deeper. Who was this girl? "That's very true." He looked at her and began to feel hints of why she had been hired to protect the academy. "I guess most of the time people are too caught up in convincing themselves that they're busy. They forget to look at the details." Examining the details is what novices and guardians are taught to do since birth. You always need to know what is going on around you. It gives you an advantage if something were to happen.
Dante switched topics before they wandered onto subjects he didn't want to discuss. Being in control and knowing the way he could make a conversation lean without the person he was talking to being aware of what he was doing, was just another of his many unique talents. "Speaking of details, when did you start working here? I don't think I've seen you before." He didn't think, he knew.. he knew that if he had he definitely would remember.

The talk about details and paying attention caused Natasha's eyes to flicker around slightly, a habit of hers. Actually, it was a habit of most guardians. She returned her attention to the boy when he spoke again.
"Speaking of details, when did you start working here? I don't think I've seen you before."
Natasha smirked slightly. Yeah, she had been getting that a lot lately. It was odd, she was used to people recognizing her, with her father being a famous guardian of the former Queen, her mother being top news headlines when she went missing, and being friends with the infamous Rose Hathaway and Queen Lissa. But oh well, this school was slightly more isolated than the others.
"I only started here about a week ago" Natasha replied casually. She felt no need to mention exactly what her job was here. She would give him a chance to figure it out.

She said she had only been her for about a week. Well that explained why Dante hadn't seen her around. Over the past week he had been trying extra hard to avoid being around the academy. He went to classes then straight back to his dorm room. It was the same thing every year around this time. For a week he did nothing but what he was suppose to while he tried to forget about the pain that had darkened his life from the age of fifteen. The anniversary of his parents & sisters death had just past again.
This was the first time he had just hung out by himself outside of his dorm. Dante just couldn't resist the weather. He wanted to be outside. But wasn't ready just yet to fall into the shadow of the Dante everyone else knew. So straight after he grabbed something to eat he came here. And now he was talking to this beautiful girl. Maybe things weren't so bad after all. "And how are you liking being apart of our fine school?"

Natasha shrugged and looked around slightly, as if her surroundings may have held the answer to that question. She sighed silently and turned her attention back to the boy.
"It's nice, I guess. I actually prefer my old job over this, but oh well," she shrugged again. Once again, she left the details out. She found herself doing that lately and she didn't know why.
Not my best post -.-

Dante watched the new guardian shrug her shoulders. It seemed they were both having a less than perfect week. "It's nice, I guess. I actually prefer my old job over this, but oh well." "That bad huh?" He said in a rhetorical manner. He hadn't meant to be sarcastic but his words had probably come off that way. He looked up at the beautiful night sky. "I'm sure it will get better soon enough." He said trying for some reason to make up for his last comment.
"I mean this place really isn't that bad." Sure school could be a pain in the ass sometimes, and yeah Dante didn't always get along with every single person he came across, but St. Josephs was his home. It was the one place in the world that he felt completely safe, not that he had really been too many places but lack of travels aside, he knew being here felt right.
